The Root Forge began with propagation: understanding how viable plant material develops strong new roots, and how the right balance of moisture, airflow and growing medium can support that process.
That root-first thinking now runs through everything we are building—from tropical houseplants and plant-specific substrate blends to rehabilitation, preservation and care for plants with deep sentimental value. Our approach is education-led, helping unusual or “difficult” plants feel understandable rather than intimidating.
Why UK propagation matters
Raised closer to the home it is growing towards.
Large-scale European growers, including those in the Netherlands, play an important role in supplying variety and volume. The Root Forge offers something deliberately different: plants propagated in smaller batches here in the UK, with closer attention to their individual progress.
A shorter final journey can mean less transport and handling before a plant reaches its new home. Small-batch growing also gives us greater familiarity with a plant’s history, growing medium and development, allowing us to provide more relevant aftercare.
UK propagation does not make any plant automatically pest-free or problem-free. Good biosecurity matters wherever a plant was grown. Our preference is for traceable stock, regular observation and responsible isolation practices, so customers receive honest information rather than sweeping promises.
